Mangaluru , March 20, 2018: St. Ann’s College of Education (Autonomous) Mangaluru, the first Women’s College of Education in Karnataka established in 1943 to pioneer the cause of women’s education and to prepare teachers for secondary schools. The institution is nurtured, guided and given its special quality under the remarkable support of our management, Apostolic Carmel Educational Society along with dedicated and committed teaching staff through the years. With a motto of ‘Lighted to Light’ and to spread this light of wisdom and knowledge, the institution has been continuously striving to prepare teachers with professional competencies to meet the requirement of changing society.
To commemorate Platinum Jubilee of the institution and to mark this historic event college had organized One day seminar for B.Ed. students of Mangalore University on the topic ‘Innovation in Curriculum Transaction’ on 20th March, 2018 .The programme begun with a short inaugural function. Prof. John Edward D’Silva, Associate Professor in Maths and Vice Principal, St. Aloysius College, Mangaluru was the chief guest. In his address, Prof. John congratulated St. Ann’s Institutions for making a hallmark in quality and standing tall among any other institution in bringing out the best teachers. In his message he recalled examples from the past where the education system received has moulded him into the person who he is today.
There were three important sessions which were conducted by Dr.Vjaya Kumari S.N, Associate Professor on the topic ‘Research Project at School Level’ , Dr. Flosy C. D’Souza, Associate Professor on the topic ‘Classroom Management Techniques’ and Mrs. Sumangala Nayak, Lecturer , DIET, Mangaluru on ‘Preparation for Competitive Exams: Department of Public Instructions’. The Seminar focused on the use, importance and need for innovations in curriculum deliverance.
Eighty students from various Colleges of Education attended the seminar and acquainted themselves with new ideas and zeal for improvement. Mrs. Rose Kiran Pinto, Assistant Professor, St. Ann’s College of Education compered the programme. Dr.Sr, Clare A.C, Principal welcomed the gathering. Mrs. Laveena D’Sa, Assistant professor and convener proposed vote of thanks.
