Dec. 12, 2017: The N.S.S Annual Camp of Carmel College Modankap was held at D.K.J.P. Higher Primary School, Pilimogaru, Dandegoli Bantwal. Around 50 NSS Volunteers actively participated in it. Various educational and cultural programmes were organized for the campers & general public. Free Health check up camp was organized for the public in association with Father Muller’s Homeopathic Medical College. The most rewarding and exciting work was digging nearly 100 pits to plant areca nut saplings for the school. The lady student volunteers had an unique experience of paddy harvesting in the village. The NSS camp provided ample opportunities to the students to develop leadership and managerial skills and talents with simple life style, hard work, discipline and with a joyful spirit.
The Camp was inaugurated by Mrs. Chandravathi Jayaram, Member, Taluk Panchayat and presided over by Prof. Sr. M. Supriya A.C., Principal, Carmel College. The Valedictory address was given by Mrs. Sulochana G.K. Bhat, Ex-President Balabhavan Society, Karnataka. Camp Officers Ms. Madhura K. and Mr. Joel M. Mascarenhas assisted by Sr. Clera Rodrigues Student Welfare Officer, Carmel College organized Camp. Honourable Minister Shri Ramantha addressed the gathering during cultural evening. Shri. Ganesh Rao Headmaster, DKJP Hr. Pry. School; Mrs. Jacintha D’Cunha Vice President, PTA, Carmel College; Sr. Naveena A.C., Joint Secretary, Carmel College; Rev. Fr. Sylvester D’Costa, Parish Priest, Infant Jesus Church Vamadapadav; Shri Prakash Fernandes, President School Development Committee DKJP School; Mr. Ashwath Rai, Industrialist Pilimogaru; Shri Ravindra Acharya, Secretary, Old Students Association DKJP School; Shri Johnson, Shri. Roydon & Shri. Anil Hedge Agricultural Department Bantwal were some of the dignitaries present.
