Mangaluru, Aug. 27: ‘Service to humanity is service to God’. Mount Carmel Central School organized a blood donation and health check up camp on 27th of August, 2017, as one of the 10 point Programmes of the Decennial Year Celebration, to set an example to the budding students in community service involvement.
Sunday morning of August 27th when the parents and well wishers of MCCS woke up with the lark instead of taking a walk to the park, they came all enthused to the call of MCCS Blood donation drive in association with A. J. Hospital and institute of Medical Science.
Along with the blood donation drive, awareness was created to pledge the organs and stem cells as well. The camp commenced with a prayer song by the students thanking God for the blessing of good health and for granting a heart of kindness to answer to the call of giving life to others. Principal Sister Melissa welcomed the gathering with mixed emotions of joy and gratitude. She cited ‘Blood is our Prana and to share the Prana with others is nobility. Guest of Honour, celebrity Mrs. Soujanya Hegde who won the Mrs. Popular at Haute Monde Mrs India Worldwide 2017 pageant, held in Delhi on August 5th 2017 said that at MCCS education has gone beyond books, in organizing this blood donation drive and was happy to be a part of MCCS family. Dr. Prashanth Marla, Managing director of A J Hospital and Research Centre, the Chief Guest of the day, cited the advantages of blood donation. He also said as we are diligent in our vehicle and property insurance, we also need to be more diligent in our annual health check up. He created awareness about organ pledging and hoped for better response for this noble cause too.
The short inaugural programme concluded with vote of thanks delivered by Ms. Leena Jose. Mrs Philomena Pinto compeered the programme.
