We the Carmelites celebrate the feast of two great Saints namely the Little Flower who is also called as St. Therese of the Child Jesus and the Great St. Teresa of Avila. We celebrated the feast of St. Therese on October 1st. She teaches us her Little Way of Love and how we should love God and our neighbour. Though she died at the age of 24, she had set us an example of how we too can be saints by following her Little Way of Love. The Church has declared her the Doctor of the Church and is the patron of the Missions.
We celebrate the feast of St. Teresa of Avila on October 15th. She teaches us the path of Contemplative Prayer. Let us have recourse to her and ask the Lord through her intercession to grant us the gift of Contemplative Prayer. She too is declared by the Church as the Doctor of the Church for her doctrine and the writings. May these two saints intercede for us Carmelites to be true to our commitment and vocation.
