St. Ann’s College of Education (Autonomous) celebrated International Women’s Day highlighting the theme ‘Balance for Better’ on March 8, 2019.
The chief guest of the day was Dr. Lavina Noronha, Director, Ave Maria Palliative Care. The speaker stressed upon the discriminations against women and need of changing the social patterns to empower women through education. She also emphasized the role of teachers to lift the women to express her fullest. The programme was presided over by Dr. Sr. Clare A.C., Principal, St. Ann’s College of Education who enlightened the teacher trainees on their power as teachers to make a difference in the society.
Students highlighted the role of women through various cultural programmes. An exuberant mime show, an elegant dance portraying empowerment of women, ‘Jeethe Hain Chal’-a melodious song and a skit highlighting the causes for women’s shortcomings in society.
The significance of the day was presented by Mrs. Janavi Sanal, B.Ed. Student President. Ms. Gauri Desai ,B.Ed student compeered the programme. Ms. Meral D’Souza delivered vote of thanks. Mrs. Laveena D’Sa, Assistant Professor coordinated the programme. The M.Ed. and B.Ed. students along with staff were the beautiful audience.
