Mangaluru, February 23 : On the occasion of the Annual General Body Meeting of the Alumnae Association of St. Ann’s College of Education (Autonomous), Mangaluru, Mother Josephine Memorial Lecture 2019 was held on 23 February 2019 in the College conference hall. Prof. Nivedita Mirajkar, Freelance Soft Skill Trainer and Chief Guest delivered the lecture on the topic “Education: the true empowerment”. Quoting the words of the famous mathematician and philosopher Aristotle “The mark of educating men is to entertain thoughts without accepting it”, the speaker spoke about how early learning of life is important to progress in life. She emphasized on how Empowerment is having a voice and also a choice. Expressing her viewpoints and personal experiences the speaker brought out the priorities of both formal and informal education has changed lives of many. The outcomes of empowerment were emphasized. A good number of audience interacted with the speaker during the open discussion and gave an enrichment to the lecture.
In conclusion, the speaker ended her talk by saying “We are the seeds, we need to create support and let education empower us”.
Sr. Clare, A.C., the President of Alumnae Association welcomed and introduced the Chief Guest. A total of two hundred and fifty alumnae were present. Mrs. Laveena D’Sa, Asst. Professor, St. Ann’s College of Education, Mangaluru proposed the vote of thanks. Mrs. Shilpa U, former B.Ed student compered the programme. Mrs. Rose Kiran Pinto, Asst Professor and Secretary of Alumnae Association organized the programme.
