Mangaluru: Five inspirational individuals from the Catholic community were conferred the prestigious 'Rachana Awards 2018' at a glittering ceremony held at the Milagres Jubilee Hall here on Saturday, November 17.
The awardees are Faye D'Souza (Rachana Professional of the year), Ronald Castelino (Rachana Entrepreneur of the year), Lawrence Pinto (Rachana Agriculturist of the year), Aloysius Richard Lobo (Rachana NRI of the year) and Sister Maria Jyothi A C (Rachana Woman of the year).
The much-awaited event of the year was presided over by the Bishop of the Mangalore Diocese, Dr Peter Paul Saldanha. Karnataka Circle Chief Postmaster General, IPS, Dr Charles Lobo was the chief guest.
Sister Maria Jyothi A.C. was honoured for her humanitarian service to the Differently Abled children besides her other works of compassion.
Founder St Agnes Special School Sister Maria Jyothi A C said, "To attain a goal, we need support from others. I have been supported through out by my superiors, parents and well-wishers. One should open one’s heart to empower the Differently Abled, create friendly environment and provide jobs for their abilities.”
