Aug. 30: The 72nd Independence Day was celebrated with great fervour and respect at St. Joseph’s High School ground. The programme started at 8:30 a.m. with the arrival of Chief Guest R.P Chandru, the District Organiser in Bharath Scouts and Guides Mysore District and the Judges of the March Past Competition. They were warmly welcomed by the School Band. The Headmistress welcomed the gathering after which the SPL escorted the Chief Guest to the Flag Arena. The Chief Guest unfurled the National Flag.
Then the March Past Competition which has become a regular feature of the Independence Day Celebration began. There was extreme rivalry among the classes to win the coveted cup for the best marching class. The Girl Guide Units and Classes V to X had made all creative attempts to march out in style. The Students of Std I caught everybody’s attention with their creative and majestic marching.
The period leading to Independence Day was showcased by the Students of Std IV B highlighting Quit India Movement, Jalianwala Bagh Massacre, Salt Sathyagraha, etc. The Students danced to the beats of ‘Vandemataram’. The Chief Guest and the headmistress delivered their message and advised students to become Ideal Citizens.
The celebration ended with the distribution of prizes to the winners of the March Past Competition.
