To learn, to gain knowledge and wisdom, one has to frequently visit the library. Today the digital libraries have replaced the usual, traditional, print library. But you cannot rule out the desire to read from the printed books. Reading is very essential in everyone’s life said Sr Dr Jeswina A.C, Principal, St Agnes (Autonomous) College, Mangalore. She was speaking at an awareness programme on J-GATE: an electronic gateway to global e-journal literature, which was organized by St Agnes College Library on Saturday August 11th to commemorate the birth anniversary of Dr S R Ranganathan, the Father of Library Science. The day is observed as Librarians ‘day throughout India.
Sri. Shiva Shankar, Training Consultant from Informatics India, Bangalore emphasized that the staff and students at higher education should involve seriously in academic work and refer peer reviewed journals and publish articles in refereed journals. He conducted an awareness programme on JGATE :e -journal bouquet.
Dr Vishala B K, Chief Librarian of the college welcomed the gathering, Ms Jayalakshmi , M.Com Student , proposed the Vote of thanks and Mrs. Sheryl Preethika, Asst.Prof. , Dept.of Commerce compered the programme. Sr Dr Venissa A.C., Vice Principal was also present.
