The long awaited day of the Golden Jubilee of our dear Sr. Apoline Baretto was celebrated on 9th May, 2018. The day began with a meaningful Morning Prayer, during which she was led from her room to the chapel with a lighted candle accompanied by the sisters singing “ our lamps are trimmed and burning” recounting God’s mercy and faithfulness to our dear Sr. Apoline for the past 50 Golden years.

The solemn Jubilee Eucharistic celebration was at 10:30 a.m. in the convent Chapel, with Fr. Valerian Mendonca, the Parish Priest of Mother of Sorrows church, Udupi, as the Main Celebrant and other 9 priests concelebrating the Mass.

The Felicitation Programme was held at St. Cecily’s High School Hall in the presence of many of the relatives of Sr. Apoline, her friends, students, well-wishers, Priests, and A.C. sisters from other convents. The Programme commenced with a welcome dance by the children of St. Cecily’s Institutions and a welcome address by Sr. Maisie, the Superior of the convent. After the formal felicitation by garlanding Sr.Apoline with jasmine, cutting of the cake, and wishing her through a song by the Community sisters, on behalf of the gathering, the wishes were conveyed through speeches by Sr. Rose Agnes, the Asst. Provincial Superior, Karnataka Province, Fr. Valerian Mendonca, the Parish Priest of Mother of Sorrows church, Udupi, Fr. Fred Mascarenhas, the former Parish Priest of Mother of Sorrows church, Udupi, Mr. Mark Baretto, the brother of Sr. Apoline Baretto, Mrs. Ashwini, the former student of our dear Sister.

The entire Programme was compered by Sr. Jenifer D’Souza and the vote of thanks was proposed by Sr. Vibha. May the Lord, who walked with our dear sister for the past 50 years, bless her abundantly in the coming years too as the golden year turns to diamond.
