The Province Commission for Formation, Vocation Promotion and Youth organized a Youth Fusion “Juvenium 2k23” for catholic students of class X to PG of all the A.C Institutions of D.K on August 5, 2023 in the Auditorium, Mother Mary Aloysia Centenary Block, St Agnes College (Autonomous), Mangalore. This mega event was the dream that came true on the occasion of Birth Bicentennial celebration of Venerable Mother Veronica, the Foundress of our congregation and in conformance to the World Youth Day that was held at Lisbon, Portugal from August 1st to 6th.
As the youth entered the portals of St Agnes College Auditorium, the students of St Agnes P U College entertained them with a few action songs. The dignitaries Sr Maria Shamita A.C, Provincial Superior; Rev Fr Anush D Cunha S.J and Ms Rosemary Thomas, the resource persons; Dr Sr Maria Roopa A.C, the Joint Secretary of St Agnes Institutions; Sr Melissa A.C, Councillor for Formation, Vocation Promotion and Youth along with the campus heads of institutions were escorted to the auditorium by the school band of St Agnes CBSE School.
The M.C of the day Sr Reema DMello briefed the audience the purpose of the gathering. The dancers of St Agnes CBSE School invoked God’s blessings through a graceful dance. The dignitaries and the gathering were warmly welcomed by Sr Melissa. “Juvenuim 2k23” was creatively inaugurated by the guests and 2 student representatives by illuminating the logo. The keynote address was given by Sr Maria Shamita A.C, the provincial superior inviting the youth to become beacons of Hope. Sr Linet Maria A.C proposed the vote of thanks.
The resource person Fr Anush DCunha S.J was introduced to the gathering by Sr Therese Teena A.C. He focused on positive attitude of a committed catholic person and the need of witnessing Christ through family life, this year being the ‘Year of Family’ in Mangalore Diocese. This was followed by refreshments, an entertaining dance by a group of students from Manipur studying at St Agnes P.U. College and a few spot games conducted by Sr Janet Sequeira A.C.
Sr Lenita A.C. introduced the second resource person Ms Rosemary Thomas from Hyderabad. She began her session on the significance of World Youth Day that was going on at Lisbon-Portugal, the message of Pope Francis to the youth and continued to enlighten them with different calls one can live as a committed catholic, focusing a little more, on call to priestly and religious life.
The Apostolic Carmel has been serving the society through value based education for more than a century and half. In the post sesquicentennial era, its focus is on Youth Empowerment to build a peaceful society. The day indeed was a colossal success in motivating the young people through inspiring talks, action songs and interaction. The feedback by students accorded a grateful thanks to the organizing team, the province commission for youth for conceiving such an idea of a gathering of the youngsters and executing it meticulously. The event ended on a note of rejoicing as the young danced to their hearts content, followed by a delicious meal together, which strengthened their bonding in the Apostolic Carmel family.
