We celebrated our Province Day 2023 on 23rd April at the Mother House, St Ann’s, Mangaluru. The jubilarians of the year holding lighted lamps walked towards the altar along with the celebrant Rev Fr Praveen Leo Lasrado with the retinue of altar girls in St Ann's Chapel which was decorated beautifully for the occasion, the choir lent itself with its melodies for prayer and celebration. It was the Thanksgiving celebration of the journey of 200 years of the birth of our founder Venerable Mother Veronica, the inaugural of the Golden jubilee of the province and the lived faith life of the sisters. The celebrant Fr Leo Lasrado during the homily highlighted the steps involved of the breaking of the bread at the Emmaus experience and its relevance for the Eucharist.
The cultural program commenced with ushering in creatively the provincial superior and team to the hall by St Agnes community to the tune of synodal journey song. The prayer dance on the 5 elements of nature viz. earth, air, water, light and space by the sisters of Ladyhill Community made us realize the need to be in communion with the nature. Stella Maris community welcomed the gathering with a blend of art and culture. The sisters of Yesu Prem Nikethan greeted the provincial superior and team, attributing their qualities to different coloured stones. The jubilarians -- silver, ruby, golden, diamond and platinum were greeted by St Cecily’s Udupi and St Maria Goretti Kemmannu. A skit was enacted by St Mary’s, Marjil on the Charism bequeathed by our founder Venerable Mother Veronica. St. Agnes community inaugurated the golden jubilee year of the province and depicted the strengthening of our mission through a rainbow dance.
The books written by Sr Preema Quadras, “the agony and prayer of Jesus” and Sr Sylvette “the compilation of the “ACA Bond of Love” were released by the provincial superior Sr Shamita. The winning communities were happy to receive the prizes for the quizzes conducted during the year.
The provincial superior voiced her appreciation for the lived faith of the sisters she experienced and requested the members to work for communion in community, as per the call of the Synodal journey and keeping to the theme of the provincial chapter 2022. She briefed the sisters the plans and activities chalked for the jubilee year and requested the cooperation of everyone to make them actualize to grow in communion, participation and mission. Srs Linet DSouza and Sannidhi compeered the programme and Sr Pramila DSouza voiced the sentiments of gratitude.
The celebration ended with the family meal, sharing with each other the smiles, joys and communion.
