St. Agnes Higher Primary School, Mangaluru celebrated the International Women’s Day with a hundred and three mothers of the students, to give them an opportunity to experience our care and concern for their welfare. The special day was celebrated on March 5th, 2022. The programme commenced with a Prayer Service by our students followed by a warm and loving welcome to them through a dance.
On this occasion, a medical camp was organized with Dr. Vinitha Fernandes, gynecologist from Fr. Muller Hospital. She addressed them on health issues related to women, namely breast cancer, heart attack, cervical cancer and mental health. They were guided to do self-examination of the breast for any symptoms related to breast cancer. A medical check-up followed the talk during which each of the women was given specific counseling.

About forty of the women who needed special care and tests were given the pink card to undergo tests at Fr. Muller Hospital for which they are entitled to fifty percent concession. St. Agnes Community has jointly collaborated with the programme by financing the medical tests and follow up needs for these women. Dr. Sr. Lydia Fernandes, Joint Secretary was present for the programme. The day ended with refreshments and a token for the women and the children.
