Holy Rosary High School, Moodbidri The light of Christ must shine in every nook and corner of Moodbidri, a tourist centre of Jainism. This was the inspiration and aspiration of the zealous missionary, Rev. Fr. Francis Xavier D’Souza whose dream of a High School for girls under the Catholic Management was realized in 1964.The Apostolic Carmel Sisters started the Holy Rosary Girls High School in Moodbidri at the request of Bishop Raymond D’Mello, the Bishop of Mangalore. On 1st June 1964 his Lordship inaugurated the school in the building offered by Mr. Louis Pinto The Pioneers Sisters Florina, Sophia, and Louisa laid a strong foundation for life through their dedicated services. The able leadership of Sisters Bernadine, Concetta and the rest enabled the school climb the ladder of success. In 1967 the first batch of students appeared for the public examination. Permanent recognition was granted to the school in March 1971. Due to the starting of co-ed schools within the vicinity the strength began to decrease and as a result boys were admitted to the school in 1989 -90 with the purpose of giving faith formation to the youth. On May 27th 1991 a new spacious Auditorium was blessed. After 38 years of its existence the Holy Rosary High School was upgraded to a Composite PU College on 2nd July 2002, indeed a red letter day in the history of the school. The dedicated staff sees to the all-round development of the students. The school has spacious classrooms, a library, and computer facilities and a play ground. The school celebrated its Golden Jubilee in the year 2016. It was a great celebration as the ex-students from far and near joined together to pay tribute to their Alma Mater by contributing their best for the celebration spending their time and energy. The school is progressing steadily!
