Holy Rosary Composite PU College, Moodbidri
The light of Christ must shine in every nook and corner of Moodbidri, a tourist centre of Jainism. This was the inspiration and aspiration of the zealous missionary, Rev. Fr Francis Xavier D’Souza whose dream of a High School for girls under the Catholic Management was realized in 1964.The Apostolic Carmel Sisters started the Holy Rosary Girls High School in Moodbidri at the request of Bishop Raymond D’Mello, the Bishop of Mangalore. On 1st June 1964 his Lordship inaugurated the school in the building offered by Mr. Louis Pinto.
Under the efficient leadership of Sisters Bernadine, Concetta in 1967 the first batch of students appeared for the public examination. Permanent recognition was granted to the school in March 1971. Boys were admitted to the school in 1989-90. On May 27th 1991 a new spacious Auditorium was blessed. On 2nd July 2002, indeed a red letter day in the history of the school, the High School was upgraded to a Composite PU College.
The college has all the three disciplines –Arts, Commerce and Science. Commerce Section has continuously secured for 4 years 100% results. The college has well equipped laboratories and library facilities. Various competitions held and the cultural activities organized enable the students to bring out their creative genius. The students moved out of the portals of this institution have excelled in every sphere!
