St. Ann's Higher Primary School
St. Ann’s Kannada Higher Primary School, Mangaluru was established in the year 1873 by The Apostolic Carmel Congregation, headed by the Superior General, Mother Marie Des Ange. It emerged to answer the then need of the time ‘education of the girl child’. The history of this school coincides with the history of St. Ann’s High School.
Here in this School the staff have the privilege to mirror the kindness, gentleness, patience and compassion of God to the children entrusted to their care. Most of these children are from economically backward families living in an extremely poor environment. They are therefore provided with value based education for an all round development. They are given uniform, books, computer education, midday meals and taught yoga, dance, art and craft.
On account of the importance given to the English Medium Schools, all Kannada Medium schools suffer from want of strength and this has affected St. Ann’s Primary School too. The school has spacious class rooms and all other facilities. C.C cameras have been installed in the school. Students participate in Zonal and Taluk level sports events and win prizes. They also take part in Prathiba Karanji competitions. Regular assemblies, National festivals and Annual Days are kept up. Science and Art exhibitions are conducted at the school level. The School band is excellent and is renowned for its public performance at Celebrations.
The school is achieving tremendous progress in the academic field. It seeks to unlock, explore and exploit the ‘I CAN’ in every child, thus equipping and enabling the child to live a life worthy of its God-given potential. The mission therefore is a work of love and of service to the society.
